Known for robust and muscular SUVs, the American automotive brand, Jeep, has surprised many of us by announcing an all-electric option to launch in 2023. “Concentrated Freedom” according to Jeep, their new Avenger SUV will be their first attempt at battery technology. Expect this smaller-SUV to include 18” alloys, 100% digital interface for the driver, handsfree tailgate, 360 degree sensors with rear camera, Selec-Terrain and hill descent control, Level 2 autonomous driving capability, Uconnect infotainment system and wireless phone charging. Can Jeep genuinely deliver a genuine “rugged” country vehicle which is non-combustion? The team at Jeep certainly think so.

But how does the electric Avenger from Jeep perform- is it fast? What is the range? 

Starting from around £35,000, the 50.8 kWh lithium-ion battery will offer 0 – 62 times of 9.0 seconds, 93 mph top speeds and 115 kW (or 154 hp). The initial model will be FWD. Expect a combined winter range of 155 miles with warmer weather allowing for 210 miles. On charging, the 11 kW AC max will allow 5 hour and 30 min 0 – 100% charging times with the 100 kW DC maximum allowing 26 minute 10 – 80% times. While a smaller SUV, this will still have a cargo volume of 355L and vehicle fuel equivalent of 143 mpg.
