Leasing a Fisker Ocean in the UK

Are there going to be new manufacturers coming to the UK for leasing?

As we all know, Tesla are very much a new automotive manufacturer compared to the industry leaders – Audi, BMW, Mercedes and Land Rover- but their recent innovations have successfully pushed them into one of the most financially astute companies in the world (as at 2022). The great news is that others are starting to follow, and previously little known brands are making robust and practical EVs.

Fisker Inc is one such organisation and their upcoming Fisker Ocean is an American-made electric vehicle which is looking to add quality to the SUV and Crossover market. The self-proclaimed “All-electric. Dynamic. Driver-Centric.” will add novel features, including a flagship SolarSky – a revolutionary full length solar roof which can add between 1,500 – 2,000 miles of driving per year. The first self-charging EV? It’s great to see modernisations like this, which help improve the product for pure electric car drivers.

But will Fisker Inc be bringing the Ocean to the UK?

The good news for e-car lease customers is that the SUV should be available to order in early 2023, as the brand looks to add another option to consider against the Model Y, Id.4 and Enyaq. Indeed, the Ocean was one of the most heavily reported and photographed BEVs at the recent Goodwood Festival of Speed. And the car is set to be featured throughout Europe as part of brand awareness.

But will the UK accept another all-electric SUV into the market? So far the UK has appeared to be receptive to crossover, SUV and 4x4 product both in combustion and zero-emission format but it’s fair to say that this is now the most-common segment and one which has significant competition.

What specifications and options will Fisker launch? How much will they cost?

Again, with the brand not having yet launched much of this is tentative but there are some indications that the following will be available at launch:

•  Ocean Sport – at around £35,000 the base model will feature 17.1” touchscreen, premium sound, BigSky roof, winter package, Intelligent Pilot Package (emergency braking, front and side collision, traffic sign recognition, lane keep assist), digital rear view mirror and app as key;  

•  Ocean Ultra – at around £49,000 this model will feature a couple of additional features including the Hyper mode, OpenSky roof and California mode. The key difference above the Sport is that it has a bigger battery (100 kWh as opposed to 75 kWh);

•  Ocean Extreme  – at around £60,000 the base model will feature a Revolve 17.1” screen, improve Pilot package (adds 360 degree camera and park my car), Immersive Sound, SolarSky, traction, Limo mode, heated front/rear seats, vehicle locator and gaming in HMI; and

• Ocean One – this launch edition will start at around £60,000 and will feature 22” alloys, Ocean One digital signature and MliBlu interior in addition to the options you get with the Extreme. 

But does a Fisker Ocean offer a positive electric vehicle experience?

According to Fisker Inc there will be two key battery options to choose from including:

• 75 kWh (available in Ocean Sport only) – this cost-effective configuration will offer 205 kW (or 275hp), 0 – 62 times of 7.4 seconds and 99 mph top speeds. On range, expect a combined 200 miles in colder weather on a full charge with 265 miles in warmer weather. On charging times, the 11 kW AC max provides for 8 hour 0 – 100% times with the 200 kW DC rapid charge max allowing for 33 minute 10 – 80% times; and
•  100 kWh (available in Extreme, One and Ultra) - while there are some subtle differences in battery and performance depending on the specification utilised, the Extreme will offer 410 kW (or 510hp), 0 - 62 times of 3.9 seconds and 124 mph top speeds. In terms of range, expect a combined 265 miles in colder weather on a full charge with 355 miles in warmer weather. On charging times, the 11 kW AC max provides for 11 hour 0 – 100% times with the 250 kW DC rapid charge max allowing for 29 minute 10 – 80% times.

Will the Fisker be your next personal or business lease car?

While some of our enthusiastic PCH, BCH or Sal Sac customers may want to order their new Ocean electric, at present their online resource only allows a customer to place a $250 deposit for US deliveries. There is no order process for a UK customer nor is there a store or dealership to test-drive one.
