Another great electric vehicle from the recent Go Electric! Event at Leigh Sports Village – say hello to the family-friendly Tesla Model X. As one of the only 7-seat electric car options currently on the market, Tesla do have a unique proposition. However, with a fairly hefty price tag, this is somewhat limited to those looking for a more luxury vehicle.
So far, the Tesla has perhaps been a tad limited to the wealthy individuals or those directors with somewhat successful businesses.
Clearly, this is something which Tesla have recognised. To bring their product into the mass market, they have introduced the Model 3, which is going to be available for a far more modest price (albeit not 7 seats). The hope is that with economies of scale for lithium-ion batteries and the new sharing of technology between manufacturers, the cost price for alternative fuel vehicles is going to reduce dramatically.
The Model X on Display at the Go Electric! eventA very common question now which the e-car lease team are facing regularly. There is almost too much to put down in one article, so we will try to cover off some of the main issues which are being faced by our customers. One of the first issues is: are there enough charging points for electric vehicles? Surely it is far safer to use a petrol station? Very solid questions. Yes, there are a number of petrol station across the UK; an estimated 67,000 pumps across 8500 locations (from 2016 statistics). However, quite surprisingly, there are now an estimated 30,000 charging points across nearly 11,000 locations in the UK.
In terms of the car shown here, the Tesla MODEL X HATCHBACK 449kW 100kWh Dual Motor 5dr Auto, this is based on the following configuration:
