The all-new Spring city car has now been confirmed for the UK, with Dacia aiming to bring a true value all-electric into the leasing market.

Bold like an SUV, the Dacia Spring is “Europe’s most affordable new electric car” with a compact yet spacious feel to it. With four full size seats, this will offer room for 4 adults in addition to 32.7L of handy storage. Real-time traffic, driver-assistance systems and safety systems, this electric Dacia is not going to leave the driver wanting more.

The Media Nav Live 10” touchscreen is more than you would expect for such a cost-effective car. And with lane keeping assist, traffic sign recognition and emergency braking, safety concerns shouldn’t arise.

But how does the Dacia Spring perform - is it a good EV?

So far, two key leasing options have been revealed including:

•  Electric 45 - this has a usable battery of 25 kWh which offers 33 kW (44hp), top speeds of 78 mph and 0-62 times of 19.1 seconds. Real-world ranges suggest a combined 85 miles in colder weather with warmer temperatures to allow for 115 miles (on a full charge). The 6.6kW AC allows for 0-100% charging times of 4 hour and 30 minutes with the 34 kW DC enabling 10-80% in 38 minutes. The Dacia SUV has Bidirectional charging - V2L via an external outlet with 3.6kW AC. It has a 162 mpg equivalent, 308L cargo volume and offers no towing capacities. There is no heat pump on this EV; and

•  Electric 65 Extreme - this has a usable battery of 25 kWh which offers 48 kW (64hp), top speeds of 78 mph and 0-62 times of 13.7 seconds. Real-world ranges suggest a combined 80 miles in colder weather with warmer temperatures to allow for 115 miles (on a full charge). The 6.6kW AC allows for 0-100% charging times of 4 hour and 30 minutes with the 34 kW DC enabling 10-80% in 38 minutes.
