The BYD Auto Company is one of the new, and most exciting, electric manufacturers to arrive in the UK for 2023 / 2024. •  130kW Boost Auto (44.9 kWh);
•  150kW Comfort Auto (60.4 kWh); and
•  150kW Design Auto (60.4 kWh)

An advanced energy-saving heat pump is standard with all models to enhance thermal efficiency and reduce energy loss, thereby increasing low-temperature driving range. The higher model will receive a full-sized panoramic sunroof for flooding light into the cabin and some of the nicer options will include the sustainable leather seats. With collapsible rear seats, you can turn this into a storage space of just over 1300 litres.

So how does the basic BYD Dolphin Active perform?

This FWD hatchback will have a 44.9 kWh usable battery which will offer 0 – 62 times of 10.0 seconds, 93 mph top speeds and 73 kW (or 94 hp). Expect a combined winter range of 135 miles with warmer weather allowing for 180 miles. On charging, the 7.2 kW AC max will allow 7 hour and 15 min 0 – 100% charging times with the 60 kW DC maximum allowing 40 minute 10 – 80% times. A cargo volume of 345L is available with this car. It has a vehicle fuel equivalent of 144 mpg.

So how does the middle BYD Dolphin Boost perform?

This FWD will have a 44.9 kWh usable battery which will offer 0 – 62 times of 8 seconds, 99 mph top speeds and 130 kW (or 174 hp). Expect a combined winter range of 130 miles with warmer weather allowing for 180 miles. On charging, the 7.4 kW AC max will allow 7 hour and 15 min 0 – 100% charging times with the 60 kW DC maximum allowing 40 minute 10 – 80% times. A cargo volume of 345L is available with this car. It has a vehicle fuel equivalent of 140 mpg.

So how does the top-spec battery perform?

This FWD will have a 60.5 kWh usable battery which will offer 0 – 62 times of 7 seconds, 99 mph top speeds and 150 kW (or 201 hp). Expect a combined winter range of 175 miles with warmer weather allowing for 240 miles. On charging, the 11 kW AC max will allow 65 hour and 30 min 0 – 100% charging times with the 88 kW DC maximum allowing 41 minute 10 – 80% times. This platform does have Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability, with up to 3.3 kW AC via an external type 2 connector. A cargo volume of 345L is available with this car. It has a vehicle fuel equivalent of 140 mpg.
