Leasing a Fiat 500 in the UK

Looking for the best small electric car to lease in the UK?  Then make sure you add one of the leading city-car manufacturers, Fiat, to your list. While it is often said that “EVs are just too expensive” or “why couldn’t they make a small and affordable electric car”, key BEVs like this do disprove these suggestions. The Fiat 500 is so well received by our personal leasing customers, particularly for younger-drivers and those looking for the best monthly price on a no deposit option.

And Fiat have not disappointed, consistently revising the Fiat 500 (which is available in petrol and electric formats) while maintaining its cost-effectiveness to ensure this is supplied in considerable volumes. With appetites growing around smaller electric vehicles, it was prudent for Fiat to join the revolution and electrify their chic, but impressive, 3 door 500 platform.

While Fiat constantly add and remove specifications to ensure customers receive a unique experience, their current hatchback and convertible line-up includes (and yes, we did say that a convertible/cabrio electric car is available!):

  • Action – a 7” digital cluster, smartphone cradle, attention assist, lane control, 15” steel wheels, flat bottom steering wheel, Fiat smart audio app all feature with the Action. Also note the radio pack, winter & radio pack and D-Fence pack;
  • Icon – this adds 16” alloys, the e-tech system for push button entry, body coloured dashboards, 10.25” infotainment system with navigation, cruise control, wireless Apple carplay. There are packs to add like the Eye Park Pack, Winter Pack, Comfort Seats Pack, Style Pack, Magic Eye Pack and D-Fence pack;
  • La Prima – this model includes full LED “infinity” lights, seats with Fiat monogram and a JBL Premium audio system. There are packs to add like the Eye Park Pack, Winter Pack, Comfort Seats Pack, Style Pack, Magic Eye Pack and D-Fence pack; and
  • Red – this special edition model has dedicated seats with Seaqual Yarn, unique red details (logo, mirror covers hub caps and dashboard), Fiat Red Kit, 16” alloys, autonomous emergency braking, cruise control, 10.25” infotainment system with integrated navigation. Also, you can add a Winter Pack with the Red.

But which battery choice is best on the Fiat hatchback or convertible? Not unlike a combustion option, where customers are presented with different choices, the world of electric cars is demonstrating that customers have a choice of “motor” which allows for certain range or performance capabilities. That is why our “Living with your ...” tool is so key, as this sets out just how the car will perform in the real world.

We don’t gloss or sugar-coat our data! The engine size on an electric car is shown as “kWh”, or kilowatt hour. Generally, the bigger this number, the longer the range / the quicker the car will be. For the Fiat 500 you have TWO key battery options to lease.

  • 24 kWh hatchback – this usable battery of 21 kWh will deliver 70 kW power output (or 94 hp in combustion terms) for 0 – 62 times of 9.5 seconds and 84 mph top speeds. On the range, the smaller Fiat 500 battery will offer combined real-world ranges of around 70 miles in winter and 100 miles in spring / summer temperatures. How long does it take to charge a Fiat 500e? The impressive 11 kW AC max allows for 2.5 hour 0 – 100% times coupled with the 50 kW DC rapid charging max, allowing for 25 minute 10 – 80% times. The 24 kWh option should really be selected by low-mileage and city / town driving customers only;
  • 42 kWh hatchback - this usable battery of 37 kWh will deliver 87 kW power output (or 117 hp in combustion terms) for 0 – 62 times of 9.0 seconds and 93 mph to speeds. On the range, the bigger Fiat 500 battery will offer combined real-world ranges of around 120 miles in winter and 170 miles in spring / summer temperatures. How long does it take to charge a Fiat 500e? The impressive 11 kW AC max allows for 4 hour 0 – 100% times coupled with the 85 kW DC rapid charging max allowing for 25 minute 10 – 80% times. The bigger battery on the Fiat 500e will deliver almost double the range of its smaller alternative; and
  • 42 kWh convertible - this usable battery of 37 kWh will deliver 87 kW power output (or 117 hp in combustion terms) for 0 – 62 times of 9.0 seconds and 93 mph to speeds. On the range, the smaller Fiat 500 battery will offer combined real-world ranges of around 115 miles in winter and 160 miles in spring / summer temperatures. How long does it take to charge a Fiat 500e? The impressive 11 kW AC max allows for 4 hour 0 – 100% times coupled with the 85 kW DC rapid charging max allowing for 25 minute 10 – 80% times. At present the Fiat 500e is the ONLY convertible electric car to lease in the UK

Fiat have really added a key budget EV to the UK’s fleet and this is likely to be one of the best-selling small BEVs. Indeed, the brand have experienced huge successes with their combustion equivalent. That is not to say that business customers and salary sacrifice schemes will not be enjoying the car either, as this could present the most cost-effective low-mileage electric solution, particularly for those businesses or employees operating within Congestion or Clean Air Zones. For estate agents or for city-centre operating businesses, the Fiat 500e could be the ideal car.

So is the Fiat 500e your next new car?  Moving forward with your order, stock or factory based, is so simple with the e-car lease team. Use our Fiat 500e best deals section to choose a variant within your budget and then enjoy our deal configurator to receive an instant quote.

Frequently asked questions
See our guides See our guides
How much is a Fiat 500e Electric to lease?
Ranging between £23,000 - £34,000, model and specification dependent, you can expect to pay around £225 - £350 on your leasing arrangement. With contract hire, your annual mileage, term and initial rental (deposit) influences your monthly price. However, for customers looking at the cheapest small EVs to lease, they can add the Fiat to that list.

Is a Fiat 500e a good car to lease?
The Fiat will be the ideal low-mileage or urban driving solution. Or even the perfect electric car for the first-time drivers with its low rental and running costs. The electric Fiat 500 mirrors its combustion equivalent for styling and specification, so customers can be assured of funky and cutting-edge designs. However, as can be seen with our EV analysis, the car does have a limited range compared to some other small car equivalents.

Is a Fiat 500e electric lease right for me or the business?
While the Fiat 500e is going to be one of the cheapest EVs to lease on a PCH or BCH leasing deal, this does not always mean it is the most suitable. While the 24 kWh battery option is cheaper than the 42 kWh alternative, if your daily commute is around 75 – 100 miles per day, you may want to consider paying more. Leasing an electric car is a practical, and fun experience, but only where you undertake the right research on the EV lifestyle before committing to buy or lease.

Where do I find the best Fiat 500e lease deals in the UK?
Many of our key offers can be viewed on price comparison websites for leasing like AutoLeaseCompare, CarWow, LeaseFetcher and LeaseLoco. However, some of the e-car lease best offers are contained within our industry-leading website. As with any electric car, make sure you visit a local dealership / retailer to test-drive and experience what the electric Fiat can deliver. Also, if you are comparing whether it is better to lease or buy the full-electric Fiat 500, make sure you ask for a PCP or Hire Purchase quote to review against our contract hire arrangements.

What is the Cheapest Fiat 500e Electric leasing option?
At the time of writing (April 2022), the cheapest model to lease within the range is the 70kW Action 24kWh 3dr Auto, at a cost price of around £23,000. Expect to pay between £225 - £275 per month on one of our leasing deals.

What is the range of an electric Fiat 500e?
Because there are two different battery options for the Fiat, you need to analyse each one individually to ensure you fully understand the range abilities. For the smaller battery expect colder temperatures to deliver 60 miles on the motorway and 85 miles in towns / cities compared to warmer climates allowing for 75 miles on the motorway and 130 miles in towns / cities. The bigger battery delivers 100 miles on the motorway and 140 miles in towns / cities compared to warmer climates allowing for 130 miles on the motorway and 220 miles in towns / cities.

Can you tow a Fiat 500e?
No – it is not possible to tow with the electric Fiat 500. As such, do not add any towbar or towing equipment to this car.

What is the MPG of the Fiat 500e?
The electric Fiat 500 has a combustion fuel equivalent of 152 mpg.
