Lease a Ford Capri EV in the UK

Iconic is probably a word which is overused for many cars. But the Capri from Ford is truly one of those genuinely iconic brands, which has many customers reminiscing about the 70s and 80s, when these were one of the UK’s leading vehicles.

The fastback coupe sold nearly 2 million units in its lifetime, with a product lifeline which went from 1969 – 1986. And having spent nearly 40 years on the shelf, the Ford group have now decided to reignite it for their latest EV proposition. The new all-electric Capri is far derived from the petrol model of old, with this crossover SUV now a wholly lithium-ion facet. Indeed, the Ford group are utilising the MEB platform from Volkswagen, which underpins their EV product.

On 10 July 2024 Ford made their official announcement, ending the rumours that the Capri would perhaps not be reborn in the BEV format.

And only the day after (11 July 2024) the Capri SUV was seen speeding around at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The vehicle is now ready to be configured and ordered on the Ford website directly with deliveries expected for later in 2024.

But what specifications can you order in the new Ford Capri?

Not unlike their existing Mach-E and recently released Explorer SUV, the Ford team are keeping things simple with two battery choices (a 77kWh and 79kWh) and two specification choices:

  •  Select – from £48,075 this will include key features like the partial Sensico trim, powered driver sport seat with massage functionality, heated seats and a heated sports steering wheel,14.6” movable Touchscreen with easy wireless smartphone integration, Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Front & Rear Parking Sensors with Rear View Camera, Keyless Entry/Start, Dual-Zone Electronic Automatic Temperature Control and Thatcham Alarm; and
  •  Premium – from £52,175 this adds 20” alloy wheels, power operated tailgate, fixed panoramic roof , Matrix LED headlamps, 10-speaker premium B&O sound system, full Sensico seat trim and ambient interior lighting.

Colour choices on the Capri EV include Frozen White (free of charge), Agate Black, Magnetic, Blue my Mind, Vivid Yellow and Rapid Red.

In terms of option choices on the SUV, choose from the Driver Assistance Pack (Windscreen Head-Up Display, Driver Alert, Lane centring with Lane Change Assist, Active Park Assist, 360-Degree Parking Camera and Hands-free Power-operated Tailgate), Heat Pump (highly efficient pump that can be used to heat the cabin) and a retractable towbar.

But how will the new Capri perform?
