Leasing a GV60 in the UK

The world of battery electric vehicles is paving the way for new and exciting new product, and manufacturers, to reach our UK customers. With the UK’s deadline for ending combustion vehicle sales only a few years away, manufacturers are presented with a key opportunity to introduce their product to personal and business leasing customers.

And Tesla proved that even an unknown brand can fast become the best-selling EV in the world! The GV60, the first all-electric product from Genesis, is looking to do just that. A luxury offshoot of the Hyundai corporation, Genesis are aiming for their “No Compromise” luxury mid-sized SUV to set the standards in sustainable luxury motoring.

While other product will follow from Genesis motors, namely a GV70 and GV80, the group are looking to establish recognition in the UK via their GV60, which will start from around £47,000. The crossover/SUV option will look to compete against the Ford Mach-E, the Skoda Enyaq Coupe and the upcoming Nissan Ariya. Electric SUVs and Crossovers are without a doubt the most-popular segment in the UK’s electric car market, so this group are more than educated on what it takes to win the support of the personal, business and salary sacrifice markets in the UK.

Customers will be able to choose one of three options:

  • GV60 Premium – a 72.5 kWh usable battery offering 0 – 62 times of 7.3 seconds, 115mph top speeds, a 240-mile real world range and all via a 168 kW (225 hp) motor;
  • GV60 Sport - a 72.5 kWh usable battery offering 0 – 62 times of 5.2 seconds, 115mph top speeds, a 230-mile real world range and all via a 234 kW (314 hp) motor; and
  • GV60 Sport Plus - a 72.5 kWh usable battery offering 0 – 62 times of 4.0 seconds, 155mph top speeds, a 220-mile real world range and all via a 360 kW (483 hp) motor.

Where customers can really take comfort is that the battery technology is underpinned by a world leader in electrification – Hyundai. The Genesis brand is very much about creating more luxury automobiles where style, comfort and performance are more heavily propagated. Providing choice based on performance and budgets is crucial to our UK electric car market, so the e-car lease team have high hopes for the GV60.

But can the Genesis GV60 provide a good electric car experience?

Looks, comfort and power output aside, the ability for an EV to make our customers happy relies on other key factors. Taking the Premium model, this “standard” option will not only offer around 205-mile ranges in winter, 275 miles in summer but the battery is capable of 11 kW AC charging for sub-8 hour 0 – 100 % charging times.

And what’s even more impressive, is the 239 kW DC rapid charging max for 15 minute 10 – 80 % charging times. With EVs, it’s not just about the range the car offers but how quickly you can recuperate the charge when you are on the public network. With more rapid and ultra-rapid charger points being made available in the UK, it’s crucial that manufacturers allow for 200 kW DC (and higher) charging speeds. Who really wants to spend more than 15 to 20 minutes at a service station?

And the Genesis GV60 looks set to wow the company car market, which has shown an incredible resilience to new and innovative concepts. In the combustion world, many of the recent years have been dominated by brands like Ford, Mercedes, Audi and Vauxhall. For battery options, we have the opportunity for new contenders and the UK’s business and salary sacrifice markets are absorbing them.

The rhetoric that “there isn’t enough EVs to choose from” no longer holds any standing. But why do BCH customers love electric cars so much? In the last couple of years, key changes by HMRC have seen the company car tax position on zero-emission vehicles change. For an electric car, with 0g/km of CO2, this allows for 2% BiK for tax year 2022/23 (and this will be fixed for the next 3 years). This means many of our e-car customers are saving literally hundreds of pounds per month on their new EV, like the GV60. The same rationale applies to salary sacrifice customers too.

But it isn’t just company car tax which is making the GV60 so popular in the UK. Even personal customers, who would generally PCP a combustion option, are now investigating the lease deals on electric cars. Why you ask? Because EVs are not only better to drive, quicker, quieter but they often present a better Whole of Life cost position for you.

With the GV60, use our charge cost calculator to understand exactly how much the car will cost to go from 0 – 100% and compare this to your usual petrol or diesel bill. Also note that the GV60 will be cheaper to service and maintain than combustion alternatives. And with new emissions zones being putting into places across Manchester, Birmingham, Bath and London, the UK automotive customers need to make a transition to BEVs sooner rather than later.

Getting an instant GV60 lease quote is so simple with our e-car lease website. Simply select the battery / specification you require from our comprehensive list and use our quote calculator to select a term, initial rental (deposit), annual mileage and maintenance provision which suits you or the company.

Remember, our website ONLY offers contract hire solutions for Genesis, so this is not suitable if you wish to buy the vehicle. Contract hire is a great product, which allows you to use the vehicle for a predetermined time and return at contract cessation without any depreciation concerns. And trust our expert team, many of which have been selling and leasing electric cars and vans for over 6 years! Our Trustpilot ratings demonstrates just how good your next new GV60 lease will be. How much is a GV60 Electric to lease?
The GV60 is a luxury alternative to the Hyundai, so do expect to pay more than you would with a Kona or the similar Kia e-Niro. The Premium will start at £47,000, with the Sport moving to nearly £54,000 and the top of the line Sport Plus costing £65,000+. As such, expect leasing deals to vary depending on your specification / battery requirements. But anticipate these to be around £450 - £800 term, mileage and initial rental dependent.

Is a GV60 Electric a good car to lease?
The GV60 is untested in the UK but with the battery technology of Hyundai, we do expect this electric SUV to be one of the most popular in 2022 / 2023. Automotive review websites, like Carwow, are already scoring this well above 4 / 5 following their test-drives. While a new brand aesthetically, the infrastructure and technology behind the vehicles has been a product well tested on UK roads, so don’t expect the GV60 to disappoint any of our personal or business lease customers

Is a GV60 Electric lease right for me or the business?
Before ordering your new GV60 our e-car lease team do encourage you to use the tools and innovation on our website (free of charge) to ensure this vehicle meets your needs and requirements. For business customers the advantageous company car tax and whole of life cost position may be enough to persuade both driver and fleet manager. For personal customers, the amazing performance and lower fuel costs could be the icing on the cake. But that doesn’t mean that charging speeds, ranges, insurance costs and charge point infrastructure shouldn’t be considered either. Make sure to reach your GV60 before committing.

Where do I find the best Electric GV60 lease deals in the UK?
Many of our dedicated e-car lease customers will see some of the key offers on our pricing partners websites like AutoLeaseCompare, CarWow, LeaseFetcher and LeaseLoco. However, we don’t put all of our best deals online and we therefore encourage our PCH and BCH customers to head to our amazing e-car website to review the pricing. As a website dedicated to electric vehicles, you only see genuine comparison using data we have provided to make sure your decision is the right one. And of course, use Genesis online to organise a test-drive and comparable PCP quotations if you are looking to find out if it is better to lease or buy your new GV60.

What is the cheapest GV60 Electric leasing option?
The current “base” model is the GV60 ESTATE 168kW Premium 77.4kWh 5dr Auto which, at £47,000, is still not what we refer to as a “cheap car lease” option to select. However, this doesn’t mean that you won’t get great value for money with your new GV60, with the range, charging speeds and performance indicating this will be the ideal electric SUV to add to your wish-list.

What is the range of an Electric GV60?
The range of the GV60 will be crucial to many customers, particularly for business customers with higher mileage requirements. While our website does show prices up to 20,000, this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t research the battery performance on your new GV60 first. For example, the base Premium option will offer between 170 – 240 miles of driving in colder temperatures and 220 – 350 miles in warmer weather (driver-style and behaviour dependent). Because EVs are greatly affected by weather, charging habits and driver use, it’s difficult to provide just ONE range. With the GV60, the upgraded models will offer slightly lower ranges than the premium, as you are compensating range for power and speed. Use our “Living with your ...” tools on the e-car lease website to find out more.

Can you tow with a Genesis GV60?
No - you cannot purchase a towing attaching for this EV.

What is the towing capacity of the Genesis GV60?
N/A - you cannot tow with this vehicle.

What is the MPG of the Genesis GV60?
This vehicle’s fuel equivalent will depend on the model chosen. For example the Premium has a vehicle fuel equivalent of 134mpg whereas the Sport has a vehicle fuel equivalent of 128mpg.
