Hyundai Ioniq 5 Car leasing
Hyundai, much like their sister-company Kia, are far from novices when it comes to electric vehicles. Their small-SUV, the Kona, has been an ever-present part of the UK’s EV market, with their original Ioniq offering a cost-effective company car solution.
Quite similarly to Kia, the Hyundai brand needed to offer a more luxurious and capable vehicle which would firmly place it on the list of e-car lease customers looking for the best electric car. Can an Ioniq 5 really compete with a Mercedes EQA, Audi Q4 and BMW i4? Absolutely. The award-winning Ioniq 5 has achieved so much in 2021 and sets to be a crucial option to select in 2022.
What makes this such a key hatchback to lease? One of the positive elements of this car is the choice to customers, with a 58 kWh and 73 kWh battery available in the 2WD and AWD formats. Later in 2022 – 2023, an even bigger 78 kWh battery option is being introduced, as Hyundai begin to create a hatchback with one of the longest-ranges and highest efficiencies. With electric cars, where we have to shift our focus is with conversations surrounding battery technology.
While brand names and aesthetics still hold considerable weight, our e-car lease personal and business lease customers are concentrating on other key metrics which relate to charging technology, charging rates and battery / vehicle performance. That being said, the Ioniq 5 is still considered to be a very attractive car with some luxurious options and packs available – choose been the SE Connect, Premium and Ultimate (and an Ultimate Tech for front memory seats, relaxation seats, BVM, PCA and smart parking). Also consider the V2L pack which allows you to power any electrical device up to 3.6 kW.
Can an Ioniq 5 offer a high-mileage company car user a capable option? Just review the 2WD 73 kWh battery, which can offer some 200 miles of cold weather-driving on a full-charge coupled with 265 miles of summer driving. With 0-62 times of around 7.5 seconds and 115 mph top speeds, it’s not true to say that electric cars are boring. Quite the opposite; EVs are far more fun to drive than combustion engines!
But aren’t electric cars slow to charge? One of the major obstacles to the electrification transition is charging infrastructure (both the car and in the public network). While the Ioniq 5 offers a considerable 11 kW AC maximum for 7 and a half hour charging times (0-100%), the 221 kW DC rapid charging maximum offers a truly impressive 17 minute 10-80% time. With plans to improve these batteries, how could a personal, business or salary sacrifice customer be disappointed?
But is an Ioniq 5 available on a personal lease deal? Priced between £35,000 - £45,000 for the key models, this big electric hatchback is available to all of our customers, personal and business alike. While this is not a budget or cheap leasing offer, the value for money the Ioniq 5 offers does make it an attractive proposition for most customers whether they need a low-mileage or high-mileage lease deal. Because of the fantastic tax-savings an EV offers our business and salary sacrifice customers, there seems to be a suggestion that our personal customers cannot enjoy these zero-emission vehicles. This is not the case!
Why are EVs so key to salary sacrifice customers? What has been a low-key and almost grey fleet aspect of our automotive industry, is now finding itself as one of the fastest growing routes for customers to enjoy a new EV. Because the company is taking responsibility for the vehicle, company car tax is still deducted from your monthly salary in addition to a salary reduction which is paying the effective rental for the car. Unlike a business contract hire arrangement, the company is NOT paying your vehicle.
With a salary sacrifice arrangement on an Ioniq 5, you (as the employee) are using your salary before tax to contribute to the lease payments. This sum will often be for the car, the servicing / maintenance and tyres plus electric car insurance in some cases. For both the employer and employee this allows for considerable national insurance savings and for the employee, it offers the most tax-efficient way to buy / lease a new car. If your company offers a salary sacrifice scheme for EVs make sure you take advantage of this on an electric car. For combustion options, because of company car tax, this is less of a practical route.
And getting your instant personal or business quote on the Ioniq 5 is so easy with the experts at e-car lease. Simply review our range and manipulate the initial rental, annual mileage, term and options to get a price per month on a contract hire arrangement.
