Leasing a Jaguar I-Pace in the UK

The self-styled “Our First All-Electric Car” is actually Jaguar’s only electric car. This electric crossover was one of the true early innovators in the UK’s EV market, having been announced in early 2018 with deliveries taking place mid-late 2018.

The JLR engineering team created what is still one of the best-looking luxury SUV crossovers to lease and it was unsurprising this EV swooped the European Car of the Year in 2019, winning the World Car of the Year and Green Car award later on. What is truly disappointing about the Jaguar I-Pace has nothing to do with the car; it’s why did JLR only launch this one model? As of 2022, JLR are still yet to bolster their product suite with more options.

The I-Pace faces immense competition from a number of great alternative EVs like the Audi e-tron, the BMW iX3, the Tesla Model Y and the Mercedes EQC to name but a few. In an effort to get back into the top-selling list in the UK (the Jag EV did not feature in the top 10 for 2021) the brand is offering some great models to choose between including:

  • S –  from £65,620 this includes LED headlights, 19” dark grey alloys, luxtec sport seats, leather steering wheel, online pack, Apple CarPlay, x2 charging cables (home and public), rear camera, lane keep assist, 10” touchscreen navigation and wireless device charging;
  • SE – from £70,220 this adds premium LED headlights, 20” alloy upgrades, DuoLeather sports seats, powered tailgate, heated/electric and folding door mirrors, blind spot assist, 12-way electric seats and lane keep assist;
  • HSE – at nearly £75,000 this model includes matrix LED headlights, 20” style 5068 alloys, Windsor leather, 16-way heated and cooled seats, driver seat memory, Meridian sound system, front foglamps and suedecloth headliner; and
  • Black – a standard Black Special Edition at nearly £73,000 and a £77,000 HSE Black Special Edition are also available.

Some great options to add to your new Jag I-Pace include the driver assist pack (for the surround camera and adaptive cruise) at £970, configurable ambient lighting at £205, cabin air ionisation at £135, electronic air suspension at £1120, secure tracker pro (integrates authentication into key fob and alerts if vehicle stolen) and the £1685 towing system for a detachable tow bar (detachable tow ball plus electrics included for 750kg of towing capacity).

But with the I-Pace being an “older” EV, can it deliver a positive battery experience for the UK’s PCH and BCH customers? The usable 84.7 kWh lithium-ion battery delivers an incredible 294 kW (or 394hp) for 4.8 second 0 – 62 times and 124mph top speeds.

In terms of combined range, expect winter to allow for 200 miles with spring / summer paving way for 265 miles on a full charge. On charging, the 11 kW AC max allows for 0 – 100% in just over 9 hours with the 104 kW DC max generating 45 minute 10 – 80% rapid charge times. It is the slower rapid charge time where the i-Pace could be critiqued.

Is leasing the best way to enjoy the Jaguar I-Pace? While our pricing is all based on a finance product called contract hire, it doesn’t mean that the personal, business or salary sacrifice customer should utilise it. Leasing is a usership product, meaning that you never own the vehicle. Based around a contract of 2 – 4 years and on a fixed pre-agreed mileage of 5,000 – 20,000 (more available on request) together with a preferred initial rental / deposit, customers can enjoy fixed term motoring without the concerns of deprecation.

And with the ability to add maintenance and charge points to the agreement, the only cost you need to manage are your fuel costs and motor insurance. Use our new charge cost calculator for understanding just how much a full tank will be, together with our cost per mile tool for working out running costs across the term.

Is the Jaguar I-pace your next luxury EV?  To move forward with a deal simply rasie an enquiry on our Jaguar deals section and build the contract which suits you or the fleet manager. Need more information? Speak to our expert team on 01942 910 001 or by emailing us at [email protected]

How much is a Jaguar I-Pace to lease?
At anywhere between £65,000 - £80,000 expect to pay around £600 - £900 per month on our lease deals. The JLR zero-emission SUV is not for a budget lease customer and will be very much a car for a PCH, BCH or Sal Sac customer with a healthy allowance. Because EVs are tax effective, this tax saving coupled with Whole of Life cost savings can offset this monthly expenditure.

Is a Jaguar I-Pace a good car to lease?
Rated 8/10 by Top Gear, 8/10 and with What Car? at 4/5, it is clear that JLR have engineered a robust and successful prestige crossover to add to your EV wish-list. Even though this was launched in 2018, the Jag is still considered to be a great looking car aesthetically with some blistering 0 – 62 times and competitive ranges. The only quibble is the slower DC charging speeds which do need improving to keep up with the competition

Is a Jaguar I-Pace lease right for me or the business?
The suitability of any electric car is subject to your needs and requirements. While the I-Pace will almost certainly offer a fun driving experience, not to mention the luxury, comfort and high specification, it doesn’t mean that you should commit to lease or buy one. Key questions relating to seasonal range, charging behaviours, charge point infrastructure and Whole of Life costs need to be addressed. Don’t just go with the best monthly price or the best specification without using our “Living with your ...” tools for understanding it the EV is truly right for you or the company.

Where do I find the best Jaguar I-Pace lease deals in the UK?
Looking for the best monthly price is not always the right option for most personal and business lease customers. Because electric cars, and vans, need more time and attention from both the customer and the leasing broker, it’s important to use a business who truly understand the nuances and who has the best electric information. While we are not the only business, the e-car lease expert team are on hand to not only support your electric transition but to offer competitive value. Feel free to use your local dealer for a PCP, HP or Lease Purchase quote to compare if buying or leasing the Jaguar I-Pace is better. For ensuring our leasing deals are good value, you can always review websites like AutoLeaseCompare, CarWow, LeaseFetcher and LeaseLoco who do that comparison for you.

What is the cheapest Jaguar I-Pace Electric leasing option?
At the time of writing (May 2022) the cheapest model to select is the ESTATE 294kW EV400 S 90kWh 5dr Auto [11kW Charger] at just over £65,000. The bigger electric SUV is not a cheap lease deal and is very much aimed at senior management, directors and luxury car enthusiasts.

What is the range of an Electric Jaguar I-Pace?
Even though the I-Pace is a long-standing electric vehicle, the range provided on this luxury crossover is still acceptable for many drivers. With temperature, driving style and driver behaviour impacting the range of the Jaguar EV, we never provide just one figure. For example, in colder temps the car will travel 170 miles on a motorway compared to 240 miles of city / urban driving. In warmer climates, the same full charge analysis would be 210 miles and 340 miles respectively, demonstrating that even some high-mileage EV drivers can enjoy the I-pace.

Can you tow with a Jaguar I-Pace?
Yes - you can purchase a detachable two bar with electrics directly from the manufacturer. This allows the tow bar to be present on delivery day.

What is the towing capacity of the Jaguar I-Pace?
The maximum weight for towing a trailer or caravan is 750kg regardless of it being braked or unbraked.

What is the MPG of the Jaguar I-Pace?
This EV has a vehicle fuel equivalent of 112 mpg.
