No sooner had the Ssangyong brand been changed to KG Mobility (or KGM for short) after the takeover, that the group started to release their first exciting all-electric examples. The first of their fresh product was the stylish Torres EVX, a bigger SUV which is based around a dynamic look, modern driving and comprehensive safety features.

In terms of specification, two key models have been confirmed for this option including:

•  K30 – from £44,495 this entry model has key features like LED lights, automatic lights, stainless steel kickplates, 12.3” instrument cluster, keyless entry system, keyless push button start, electro-chromatic rear view mirror, automatic folding/heated/powered door mirrors, solar windscreen, rear parking camera, adaptive cruise control, air conditioning, HD navigation, Apple CarPlay, wireless phone charger, luxury leather 8-way power adjustable driver seat, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, heated steering wheel, privacy glass and 18” alloys;

•  K40 – from £47,495 this option adds 20” alloys, powered tailgate, 3D around view camera, premium leather, 8-airbags safety system, EV range enhancing heating system, traction control system and Blind Spot Assists.

On colours choose between Space Black, Dandy Blue, Platinum Grey, Forest Green and Grand White.

But how will the KGM Torres EVX perform?

The FWD SUV option will have a 72 kWh usable battery which will offer 0 – 62 times of 8.1 seconds, 109 mph top speeds and 152 kW (or 204 hp). Expect a combined winter range of 185 miles with warmer weather allowing for 245 miles.

On charging, the 11 kW AC max will allow 7 hour and 45 min 0 – 100% charging times with the 120 kW DC maximum allowing 37 minute 10 – 80% times. A cargo volume of 839L is available with this car. It has a vehicle fuel equivalent of 124 mpg. It has Bidirectional charging – with the V2L (Vehicle-to-Load). A Heat Pump is standard with this EV.
