Leasing a Lexus UX in the UK

Known for being true pioneers of luxury hybrid vehicles, the Lexus brand (which is a prestige offshoot of Toyota) joined the EV revolution in 2019 / 2020, converting their UX 250h to an all-electric platform.

Not unlike the competition – Vauxhall Mokka-e, Renault Megane E-tech, Kia Niro EV, Hyundai Kona – much of the UK’s immediate future for EVs rests in the hands of anything SUV. One of the reasons electric cars are so expensive is that many options are Crossover / 4x4 vehicles as opposed to smaller hatchback and city cars.

This generally allows for more battery storage and therefore longer ranges / increased performance. It’s also noticeable that many company car and salary sacrifice schemes are the catalyst to EV growth in the UK as the considerable tax savings for employer / employee are offsetting the purchase and leasing costs which cars like the Lexus present. That’s not to say that the all-electric UX won’t be equally popular with our personal lease customers.

In July 2023, the Lexus brand announced some slight revisions to the UX, with battery improvements and some specification / price realignment. With UK customers now requiring more range and battery robustness, manufacturers must listen and respond accordingly.

For simplicity, the Japanese manufacturer have introduced just one specification option with the ability to add on packs for those customers needing a little more from this SUV:

  •  UX-300e – from £48,625 this has 17” alloys, Lexus safety systems, 7” media screen, reversing camera, front and rear parking sensors, Bi-LED headlights, 8-way electrically adjustable front seats and Apple CarPlay;

  •  UX-300e (Premium Plus Pack) – from £50,995 this pack adds wireless smartphone charger, smart keyless entry, card key, heated rear seats, heated steering wheel, privacy glass and heated and ventilated front seats; and
  • UX-300e (Takumi Pack) – for circa £57,095 this adds 18” alloys, 12.3” navigation, 13-speaker Mark Levinson surround sound system, sunroof, 360-degree view monitor, HUD, blind spot monitor and powered tailgate with kick sensor.

There’s a whole host of great options to consider adding to the Lexus SUV (both manufacturer and dealer fit). Consider the Projection Pack for rear bumper protection film and a boot liner, the Design Pack Black for side sills and trunk garnish in black, mudguards and the cross bars.

The new 2023 UX will have a 64 kWh usable battery which will offer 0 – 62 times of 7.5 seconds, 99 mph top speeds and 150 kW (or 201 hp). Expect a combined winter range of 180 miles with warmer weather allowing for 240 miles. On charging, the 6.6 kW AC max will allow 11 hour and 30 min 0 – 100% charging times with the 50 kW DC maximum allowing 81 minute 10 – 80% times. A cargo volume of 367L is available with this 4.5m EV. It has a vehicle fuel equivalent of 133 mpg. This EV cannot tow.

In terms of the previous 2021 model, the UX will be powered by a usable 45 kWh lithium-ion battery which produces 150 kW (or 201hp) for 0-62 times of 7.5 seconds and 99mph top speeds. The UX, on a full charge, should offer drivers around 120 miles in winter (combined) and 165 miles (combined) in warmer weather.

For charging speed, the 6.6 kW AC will allow for 0 – 100% charge times of just over 8 hours with the basic 35 kW DC taking over 60 minutes for 10 – 80% capacity. The UX does have a slow rapid charging time compared to the competition. For customers utilising the public network for rapid charging sessions do take this into consideration.

Can younger and older drivers enjoy the Lexus?

A brand which perhaps has more affinity with older-drivers, Lexus are now trying to make their SUV evenly desirable with younger-drivers looking to make the electric transition. For contract hire, so long as a customer is 18 years or older and has a positive credit history, subject to our KYC and Income / Expenditure requirements, they can apply to lease with the e-car team.

The younger-generation are aiming to create a more hospitable and decarbonised environment while enjoying the fun and frugality BEVs offer. But, in the same way, older-drivers can benefit from electric cars particularly for those covering stop / start journeys on low-mileage contracts. Even on the highest tariff (£0.28 kWh) a UX electric is only just over £12 for a full tank which at nearly 150 miles (combined) equates to just 8 pence per mile! Add to that lower servicing, maintenance and tyre costs and you can quickly understand why many older drivers are enjoying the practicality of the electric revolution.

Will the Lexus UX be your next electric SUV?

The Lexus deals section on our electric-only website clearly sets out the specification options available to lease at any one time. How much is a Lexus UX to lease?
Costing between £42,000 - £53,000, this luxury small SUV will cost around £375 - £500 per month on a leasing deal. Lexus are very much a prestige car manufacturer and are not known for cheaper leasing deals. This will likely be popular with BCH and Sal Sac schemes plus those older drivers with a healthy monthly budget or deposit.

Is a Lexus UX a good car to lease?
Lexus have a formidable reputation for comfort, reliability and hybrid technology. Some of this has transferred to their EV option with the UX receiving average feedback – CarWow 7/10, Parkers 4/5, Autocar at 3.5/5 and Top Gear at 7/10. Admittedly this is an expensive car for what you get in terms of range and charging speeds; this is one of the slowest vehicles for rapid charging. It will therefore be an impractical high-mileage company car. On the plus side, the standard options and specification are impressive from the Japanese manufacturer.

Is a Lexus UX lease right for me or the business?
One of the key reasons for using e-car lease is our host of tools for understanding product suitability. It’s not just about the comfort, styling or practicality of a car; it’s about understanding charge point infrastructure, charging cables, charging times and seasonal ranges which are hugely important for the EV-lifestyle. Our customers receive a balanced view so that a decision can be reached based on honest data and what is most suited to a customer’s needs and requirements. Our tools even show you running costs – shown as full charge cost and the cost per mile. Our EV guides are some of the most informative in the market, which is just one reason why our Trustpilot rating is so good.

Where do I find the best Lexus UX lease deals in the UK?
The Lexus website allows both a personal and business customer to build and price their all-electric UX, so many will utilise this at the start of the process. In addition, many customers compare buying v leasing a UX, so a PCP, Hire Purchase and Lease Purchase quotation allows this synthesis. Review websites like Discover EV and Fully-Charged together with price comparison websites like AutoLeaseCompare, CarWow, LeaseFetcher and LeaseLoco are useful too. One of the great things about our website is that we show electric cars ONLY. This means we are the best resource for comparing the latest electric options to select in the UK.

What is the cheapest Lexus UX Electric leasing option?
At the time of writing (May 2022) the cheapest model to select is ELECTRIC HATCHBACK 300e 150kW 54.3 kWh 5dr E-CVT at just over £42,000. Do review our website because we sometimes get additional offers or discounts on higher models. Plus, as a credit broker not a lender, we can compare prices for you or the company across a variety of lenders.

What is the range of an Electric Lexus UX?
The Lexus is unlikely to be a suitable high-mile 100% electric vehicle. Because EV ranges are always subject to external temperature, driving style and behaviours, our website does present a balanced view. For example, on a full charge in colder climates the UX will cover 100 miles on a motorway compared to the 145 miles in urban conditions. In contrast, warmer climates will increase this capability to 130 miles on a motorway compared to the 215 miles in urban conditions. Ensure you assess range in conjunction with your realistic commute to avoid disappointment.

Can you tow with a Lexus UX?
No - you cannot purchase a towing attaching for the Lexus EV.

What is the towing capacity of the Lexus UX?
N/A - you cannot tow with this vehicle.

What is the MPG of the Lexus UX?
This EV has a vehicle fuel equivalent of 130mpg
