Leasing a Mercedes EQV in the UK

Mercedes are fast becoming the leading manufacturer of electric vehicles, with an option to select in almost every car and van segment. Not content with a litany of SUV, 4x4, luxury saloons and TWO commercial electric vehicles (the eSPrinter and the eVito), Mercedes have added to that repertoire with a further option – the people-carrying EQV.

Why introduce a 7-seater vehicle into the selection? The truth is some incredible foresight by the Merc engineering and marketing team. As the UK transitions to the 2030/2035 EV deadline, this means that we desperately require an array of vehicles to select in battery format. For taxi, chauffeur, hotelier and other executive travel companies, having EVs will be crucial to their future. This is no more prevalent for those businesses operating in cities, like London, Manchester and Birmingham, who are putting in place emissions-focused charges for those combustion vehicles who are causing pollution. The future of our roads is very much congestion zones, ultra-low emissions zones and Clean Air Zones, so we need electrified solutions to offset the difficulties these create.

But that is not to say that the EQV is designed for businesses only. While the e-car lease team envisage that many of our customers will be hoteliers, childcare and social care providers, football clubs and embassies, we do expect personal customers with specific transport requirements to also want to benefit from the joys of electric driving.

For those bigger families, Mercedes are now offering you both the EQB (a 7-seater car) and the EQV (a 7-seat commercial vehicle) so that you have a robust solution for moving your children and extended family around. And the EQV does not lack in exterior or interior design, ebbing that Mercedes luxury and technological feel throughout.

As at today’s date (April 2022), our personal and business customers can benefit from the three following options:
• EQV ESTATE EQV 300 150 kW Sport 90 kWh 5dr Auto -  provides 17” alloys, ambient lighting, comfort suspension, easy-pack tailgate, electrically-sliding rear doors, LED lights, mirror package, 7 seat packages, heated driver and passenger seats, MBUX media system, parking package with reversing camera and automatic climate control;
• EQV ESTATE EQV 300 150 kW Sport Premium 90 kWh 5dr Auto – as a near £2500 upgrade, this adds upgraded 17” alloys, privacy glass, Mercedes-EQ design pack, table packages and the memory package; and
• EQV ESTATE EQV 300 150 kW Sport 90 kWh Premium Plus 5dr Auto - as a near £4500 upgrade, this adds full air suspension, 18” alloys and Burmester surround sound.

But can the Mercedes EQV deliver a genuine electric experience for UK customers?

Starting from £71,000, this luxury transport will probably be limited to those companies operating in zones where the charge exemptions offset the cost or will be for those personal customers with a luxury EV requirement for their bigger family. In terms of the performance, the EQV offers 150 kW (or 200hp) resulting in 12 second 0 – 62 times, 99mph top speeds and all through a FWD system. In terms of “range” expect the vehicle to deliver a real-world battery performance of just under 200 miles on a full charge. On the charging aspects, the EQV can operate at an 11 kW AC max for 10 hour 0 -100 % charge times and can rapid charge at a 110 kW DC max for 40 minute 10 – 80 % times.

Ensuring you, or the fleet manager (or director), understands the key components noted above is crucial to getting the most out of your new EQV. Battery vehicles are more than just a look or drive (and yes, EVs drive better than combustion alternatives). Range, charging times, charge point infrastructure and Whole of Life costs must be considered as well. For example, our e-car lease website now provides a charge cost calculator, so that you compare the cost of fuelling an EQV v the combustion equivalent. Also consider that EVs are often much cheaper to service and maintain, not to mention their preferential company car tax position. All of this must form part of your analysis regardless of you being a PCH, BCH or salary sacrifice customer.

And getting the expert advice is also crucial. Having sold and leased EVs for over 6 years, our e-car lease team can ensure that you, or the company, get the best lease deal on your EQV coupled with the leading service. Build your perfect EQV on our e-car website and get an instant quote based on your term, mileage, initial rental (including no deposit) and maintenance requirements. Also let us know if you need help with a charge point solution. Need more? Just call our friendly team on 01942 910 001.

How much is a Mercedes EQV Electric to lease?
The EQV is a very much a luxury car to lease. Businesses, or individuals, looking to order their new EQV today do have to prepare to spend more heavily on the EQV compared to some of the alternative options, like the Vauxhall Vivaro-e Life and the Peugeot Traveller e-electric estate. Staring at £71,000 this does mean that monthly lease prices will be £650 - £900 depending on your specification, term, mileage and initial rental.

Is a Mercedes EQV Electric a good car to lease?
One of the key benefits of the EQV, aside from the fact it is one of the only people carrying EVs, is that the EQV is made by one of the world’s leading car manufacturers. Apart from the build quality, finish, specification and drive (which are all on point), you also have the benefit of robust battery tech. Mercedes are now producing countless EQ products, which should result in more comprehensive battery vehicle experience. Many automotive websites are allocating a 3-4/5 rating to the EQV.

Is a Mercedes EQV electric lease right for me or the business?
The reality is that there is very little choice in this specific electric segment and so suitability is somewhat easier for lease customers reviewing the EQV. While there are cheaper alternatives, no other luxury or prestige brand has an offering to compete with this BEV. However, this does not mean you, or the company, should order one without first ensuring that the vehicle meets your needs and requirements. More so when Mercedes are charging £71,000 and upwards. What is the range of an electric Mercedes EQV?
