Leasing an Omoda 5 in the UK

The latest Chinese brand to make its way into the UK, Omoda, are arriving with just one key product offering  - the 5 (or C5). Available in a petrol and all-electric format, the compact SUV will be Europe’s first taste for this manufacturer.

But worry not, the group are underpinned by a conglomerate known as the Chery Automobile company and these were responsible for nearly 2 million vehicle sales in 2023. So, this is anything other than a start-up or new venture; just another established Asian venture making its way into the UK’s electric car market.

The Omoda 5 Electric Estate is the key model we are interested in here at e-car lease. The new SUV, which was codenamed “X-C” is being used in both left and right- hand drive globally.

With aesthetics not dissimilar to the Nissan Ariya, Hyundai Tuscon and Toyota BZ4x this “Drive-E-Future” isn’t just about looks - the light and shadow cutting streamlined body allows for significant efficiencies and performance too. At present (May 2024) we know of two key models hitting the UK in 2024, which includes:

•  150KW Comfort 61kWh 5dr Auto – from £34,000 this model will have key features like keyless entry, power folding mirrors, dual 10.25” infotainment system, 9-speaker audio system, a fast wireless charging pad, 18” alloys, multi-function steering wheel, synthetic leather, 4-way manually adjustable seats, LED headlights, front and rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, advanced safety systems (lane departure, blind spot detection, emergency lane keep and lane change assist); and 
•  150KW Noble 61kWh 5dr Auto  – from £36,000 this model adds electric tailgate, power sunroof, red brake callipers, heated steering wheel, heated front seats, power-adjustable heated seats, open door puddle light, 360 degree camera and HUD.

Colours are set to include Titan Green, Space Black, Bloodstone Red, Midnight Blue and Mercurial Grey. With 7-airbags, safety is clearly high on the agenda for this brand. And that includes our four-legged friends, with the Dog Mode on their “main scene modes” allowing ambient temperature to be set for your vehicle.

In terms of running costs, the Omoda team are set to offer a 7 year warranty, 7-year fixed servicing and 7-year roadside assistance.

But how does the Omoda 5 battery perform?

The FWD SUV option will have a 61 kWh usable battery which will offer 0 – 62 times of 7.2 seconds, 107 mph top speeds and 150 kW (or 204 hp). Expect a combined range of around 200 miles on a full charge. On charging, the 11 kW AC max will allow 6 hour min 0 – 100% charging times with the 80 kW DC maximum allowing 33 minute 10 – 80% times. A cargo volume of 380L is available with this car. This will have Bidirectional charging capabilities.
