Lease a Peugeot e-5008 in the UK

There has been an obvious limitation of 7-seat electric car options for UK leasing customers. Until now (June 2024), there has only been the Mercedes EQB, Kia EV9 and Volvo EX90 which have been put forward as key options. But with the latter costing north of £60 - £70,000, this clearly eliminates much of the consumer and retail markets.

And for the EV movement to succeed, it is fundamental that an array of vehicles are offered; especially ones which offer good value. And the Stellantis Group, via their Peugeot subsidiary, are bringing just that to the market with the new e-5008 7-seat EV.

“The class-above electric” is a next-generation family car, aiming to bring style, robustness and functionality. Built on the STLA Medium platform (which includes the new Common Modular Platform), the 3rd generation of 5008 will be built at the Stellantis factory in France, with the batteries supplied via the Gigafactory in Douvrin (France).

While available in mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid formats, it is the lithium-ion setup which is most interesting to the e-car lease team. Even the Peugeot team are now propagating the pros of going electric with their product.

At present it has been confirmed that two specifications will feature including:

  • Allure - this will include key features like the 21” HD curved driver display, HD reversing camera, Peugeot Open and Go keyless entry, tri-zone climate control, ultra-slim LED Pixel LED lights, panoramic i-cockpit and 19” alloys; and
  •  GT - 20” diamond cut alloys, PIXEL Led headlights, hands-free electric tailgate, black diamond roof (colour contrast), Alcantara upholstery plus  heated and massaging fronts seats.

Practicality is the name of the game with this new SUV. While 7-seats are standard, there are also key aspects like the sliding rear bench, easy-access to row 3 and large boot capacity of 740L with the rear seats folded. If you fold all seats, then this increases to 1815L with just a driver and passenger in the vehicle.

But how will the new 5008 EV perform?

As per the below, the brand will offer the following three battery formats, with standard being launched first and the rest due to follow later:

  • Standard – (from £48,000) this FWD SUV will have a 73 kWh usable battery which will offer 0 – 62 times of 9.0 seconds, 106 mph top speeds and 157kW (or 211hp). Expect a combined winter range of 195 miles with warmer weather allowing for 260 miles – a 230 mile combined. On charging, the 11 kW AC max will allow 8 hour 0 – 100% charging times with the 160 kW DC maximum allowing 36 minute 10 – 80% times. A cargo volume of 748L is available with this car. It has a vehicle fuel equivalent of 127 mpg. You can tow with this EV –1000kg (Braked). It also has Bidirectional charging facilities - a  V2L (Vehicle to Load) which is the exterior Type 2 adapter, capable of up to 3.6kW AC. The Heat Pump is standard with this EV;
  •  Long Range – (from £55,000) this dual-motor AWD SUV will have a 73 kWh usable battery which will offer 0 – 62 times of 6.0 seconds, 106mph top speeds and 240kW (or 322hp). Expect a combined winter range of 195 miles with warmer weather allowing for 255 miles – a 225 mile combined. On charging, the 11 kW AC max will allow 8 hour 0 – 100% charging times with the 160 kW DC maximum allowing 36 minute 10 – 80% times. A cargo volume of 748L is available with this car. It has a vehicle fuel equivalent of 125 mpg. You can tow with this EV. It also has Bidirectional charging facilities - a  V2L (Vehicle to Load) which is the exterior Type 2 adapter, capable of up to 3.6kW AC. The Heat Pump is standard with this EV; and
  •  Long Range Big Battery - this FWD SUV will have a 98 kWh usable battery which will offer 0 – 62 times of 9.7 seconds, 106mph top speeds and 170kW (or 228hp). Expect a combined winter range of 260miles with warmer weather allowing for 345 miles – a 305 mile combined. On charging, the 11 kW AC max will allow 10 hour and 30 min 0 – 100% charging times with the 160 kW DC maximum allowing 32 minute 10 – 80% times. A cargo volume of 748L is available with this car.
