Leasing a Skoda Elroq in the UK

The Skoda brand has evolved into a manufacturer which is known for quality, comfort and, above all, value. Many years ago, the notion of driving a Skoda would instil fear into some UK leasing customers but when the Volkswagen Group acquired the Czech automobile company in 2000, there was a noticeable change in customer attitudes.

Combining the German quality for engineering with the Czech’s shrewd designs, the Skoda group emerged as a top talent in the UK. This hasn’t subsided when it comes to electric cars, with the Enyaq recognised as a truly robust SUV to lease. Indeed, it was peculiar when the Skoda team didn’t build on the success of this EV with more options, like the VW and Cupra brands did.
But in October 2024, Skoda are now able to supply their customers with more than just the Enyaq – the new Skoda Elroq is now an option for those UK customers looking to buy or lease a compact SUV similar to options like the Hyundai Kona, Kia Niro EV and Volvo EX30.

Built on the MEB Platform, which is the VW dedicated chassis and infrastructure, this is aiming to bring electric efficiency but not at the expense of cost. With the UK facing challenges under the ZEV mandate, the price customers will pay for new and used EVs is now a hot topic.

But what options of the Elroq are available to lease?

As at 2024 the group have confirmed;

  •  SE – from £31,500 this will include the 19” alloy wheels, 13” infotainment touchscreen, 5” digital cockpit, rear view camera, LED rear lights, keyless start/stop, 8-speaker sound, climate control, lane assist, traffic sign recognition, forward collision warning, DAB radio, SmartLink and cruise control;
  •  Edition – from £38,650 this adds heated front seats and heated steering wheel, wireless charging, keyless entry, adaptive cruise control, tow bar preparation, heated and folding exterior mirrors, 19” Regulus alloys, privacy glass, front and rear parking sensors;
  •  SEL – coming later, this version will have heated front seats, satellite navigation and front parking sensors. This will sit a little below the Edition specification; and
  •  Sportline – coming later, this top of the line model will add dynamic sports styling, gloss black finishes, 20” alloy wheels, sports suspension and an enhanced battery.

Key colours on the Elroq include the Race Blue, Timiano Green, Velvet Red, Moon White, Black Magic, Steel Grey and Energy Blue. In terms of additional options, choose from the Winter package (heated windscreen, heated front and rear seats plus tri-zone climate), Maxx Package (parking assist with remote parking, trained parking, power-adjustable lumbar support, area view, HUD.

Canton sound system, electrically adjustable seats, LED Matrix lights, cornering light function and electrically operated boot) and Plus Package (LED matrix lights, dynamic headlight control, LED rear lights, rear side airbags and electrically operated boot). The heat pump is available but as an additional option (used for generating interior heat without demanding on the battery) as is the tow-bar with adaptor (electrically retractable and pivoting).

But how does the new Elroq perform – is it a good solution for our lease customers?

  • 50 RWD - the 52 kWh lithium-ion battery will offer 0 – 62 times of 9.0 seconds, 99 mph top speeds and 125kW (or 168 hp). This model is a RWD option. •  85 RWD - the 77 kWh lithium-ion battery will offer 0 – 62 times of 6.6 seconds, 112 mph top speeds and 210kW (or 282hp). This model is a RWD option. Expect a combined winter range of 235 miles with warmer weather allowing for 320 miles – 280 miles combined. On charging, the 11 kW AC max will allow 8 hour and 15 minute 0 – 100% charging times with the 175 kW DC maximum allowing 28 minute 10 – 80% times. This has a cargo volume of 470L and vehicle fuel equivalent of 147 mpg. Towing capacities are 750kg (unbraked) and 1000kg (braked). The heat pump is available but is an additional option. No Bidirectional charging has been announced.

While the Elroq could be on your wish-list, we do encourage all of our customers to research their future EV properly. Battery technology is an amazing facet which can lead to better driving experiences, lower fuel costs and improved servicing obligations. However, there are charging obligations, at home or work, range requirements and aspects like motor insurance and performance to take on board. All of this is eloquently set out on the website under “living with your …” and reiterated again in your key EV factsheet – the EVC™.

How much is a Skoda Elroq Electric to lease?
Starting from just over £31,500, you can expect to pay around £250 - £450 per month depending on the specification and contract you need. The term and mileage of your EV will be used to create your deal. For those with a bigger budget there are options within the product line-up which will be above £40,000 so you may need to push the budget to £500.

Is a Skoda Elroq Electric a good car to lease?
The Skoda SUV is still relatively new and has limited feedback from the UK media. The What Car? team suggests the pros include smooth acceleration, suitably nippy and quiet on the motorway. Auto-Express say this is a well-judged offering but the cons include a sensitive throttle. The CAR Magazine team give this a 4/5 with the pros defined as great driving position and plenty of headroom.

Is a Skoda Elroq electric lease right for me or the business?
Making sure that the Skoda EV is right for you, or the company, is important with contract hire as this is a fixed term contract and you cannot simply return it should this not be suitable. A process called Early Termination would need to be undertaken. Aspects like the real-world range, charging times, charging costs, motor insurance and lifestyle assessments should be considered before progressing. Our “living with your …” and EVC™ all highlight what you need to know about the new Elroq

What is the range of an electric Skoda Elroq?
While the e-car lease expert team do understand that many of our customers need to get to grips with the range of their Elroq, it is crucial that the “Living with …” tools on our bespoke EV website are used. We don’t just provide one WLTP analysis, we set out the range taking into account  winter, summer, motorways, driver-behaviour and terrain.
