The Stellantis group are becoming a force to be reckoned with; leading brands like Citroen, Peugeot, Jeep and Vauxhall are providing unprecedented economies of scale. So, unsurprisingly, we are adding yet another electric Vauxhall SUV to the website – the Frontera

Many of our older customers may remember the Frontera as a rugged all-terrain vehicle, which was incredibly popular in the 80’s and 90’s in the UK. Commonly bought in its 3-door aggressive format, this option has now been updated in line with the group’s pure EV aspirations. What is even more interesting is that the product suite will include a 7-seat family derivative, which is one of the facets which is currently missing in the UK market.     

The Frontera has been designed as a suitable family SUV to sit alongside the existing Mokka and upcoming Grandland X. Comfortable seats, flexible and clear infotainment, this car is aiming to bring the feel of driving to Vauxhall fans. Indeed, many of you may even note the Land Rover Discovery Sport feel to this ergonomic and functional 4x4.

What options of Frontera will be available?

Two key options have been confirmed with:

•  Design– this will include 16” steel covers, air conditioning,10” driver display and 10” colour touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, 6 speakers, contrast roof, rear park assist (and rear view camera), hill start assist, LED lights, lane keep assist, speed sign display, cruise control, active safety braking and driver attention alert; and     
• GS –this will add 17” alloys, automatic air con, front parking sensors, power-folding mirrors, LED taillights, privacy glass, leather steering wheel, blind spot detection.

On the GS you can add a tech Pack for roof rails, heated seats, heated screen and a heated steering wheel. You can also upgrade your GS to a 7-seat option. 
In terms of colours, the Frontera EV includes Canyon Orange, Arctic White, Crystal Silver, Carbon Black, Effect Blue and Khaki Green.

But how does the electric Vauhall Frontera perform? Is it any good?

•  This has a usable battery of 44 kWh which offers 83 kW (111hp), top speeds of 87 mph and 0-62 times of 12.1 seconds. Real-world ranges suggest a combined 130 miles in colder weather with warmer temperatures to allow for 175 miles (on a full charge) - combined overall at 155 miles. The 7.4kW AC allows for 0-100% charging times of 7 hours with the 100 kW DC enabling 10-80% in 32 minutes. It has a 143 mpg equivalent, 460L cargo volume and towing capacity has been announced at 350kg (Braked and Unbraked). There is no heat pump on this EV. Bidirectional charging has not been confirmed.
