Leasing a Volkswagen ID.4 in the UK

The UK is a country utterly obsessed with SUVs and 4x4’s. Thankfully, this is something which Volkswagen are very much aware of from their combustion product. Our personal, business and salary sacrifice customers are very much blessed with a choice of great SUVs to review – the Skoda Enyaq, Volvo XC40, Mercedes EQA and Tesla Model Y to name but a few. Is the future of electric vehicles really going to be SUVs? This is actually a great question and so far, we have noticed a considerable amount of new electric cars being released in SUV or Crossover formats.

Building upon the success of the e-Golf and subsequent ID.3, VW released their Tiguan equivalent the ID.4 as a practical and cost-effective option for families and those drivers who prefer the upright driving position. Currently available in a 52 kWh Pure and Performance battery plus a 77 kWh Pro Performance and GTX option, the ID.4 offers more than enough for the different budget, range and performance requirements for any leasing customer. For any first-time EV leasing customers, the kWh refers to the battery size of the vehicle (as per CC in a combustion engine) and “kW” refers to the vehicle’s power, in the same way of HP or PS. These terms will become very familiar to all of us very soon!

Two key models for customers to consider are the 52 kWh Life Pure Performance and the 77 kWh GTX. The former option is one of the cheapest SUVs for leasing and so will appeal to those on a more limited monthly budget. And don’t think this won’t offer you the true electric experience with 0-62 times of 11 seconds, 109 kW (or 146hp) output together with 100 mph top speeds. Charging times are around 8 – 9 hours on a 7.2 kW AC home charge point and 35 minutes on the 118 kW DC rapid charger. How far can the Life Pure travel on a full charge? Expect combined winter performances of around 150 miles and a more admirable 200 miles in Summer

Looking for more performance and speed with your VW ID.4?

Then consider the GTX with its 6.2 seconds 0-62 times, 220 kW (295 hp) output and 112 mph top speeds. The GTX can charge more rapidly with the 11 kW AC max providing 8 hour 0-100 % charging speeds and just 33 minutes on its 135 kW DC rapid charging max. And for high mileage EV customers, you have the confidence the ID.4 doesn’t need constant charging – 210 miles of combined performance in winter with a 280 combined range in summer demonstrates that VW are now producing some exceptional battery technology for its electrified solutions.

For many customers, it’s key to note that the future of the EV product is not in 300 or 400+ ranges; the investment will be placed into charging speeds and charging infrastructure, so that leasing customers can utilise 15-20 minute public charging.

Is VW ID.4 a good car to lease?

An ID.4 is one of the best electric SUVs on the market. For independent reviews on any of the cars show on the e-car lease website, head across to our partners – the GreencarGuide

Their reviews and guides will not only score the EV, they also provide an in-depth analysis about the EV-lifestyle.

Is a VW ID.4 lease right for me or the business?
Making an informed decision is key to the ID.4 being right for you, the business or your employee. While the price per month is important, this should not become the only facet you use as part of your decision. The e-car lease website will not only provide an instant quotation, but it will explain all of the crucial aspects about the car. If you are leasing an electric car for the first time, you need to take into account factors like charging speeds, charging times, range and charge point locations. Just because a car has offers little company car tax to our business and salary sacrifice customers does not mean that this is the right EV for them!

Where do I find the best VW ID.4 lease deals in the UK?
The e-car leas team have relationships with some of the UK’s leading VW franchised dealers. This means that our discounts are not only some of the best but our ability to access stock is increased. With longer factor order times, you need to ensure you are working an electric car leasing broker who can provide an efficient solution. You may also see some of leading offers on the UK’s best comparison websites like AutoLeaseCompare, CarWow, LeaseFetcher and LeaseLoco.

What is the Cheapest Electric VW ID.4 leasing option?
The base model, the ID.4 109kW Life Pure 52kWh 5dr Auto, is the cheapest personal or business leasing option to utilise. Until late 2021, this car also benefited from the Governments plug-in grant but due to changes this no longer qualifies. However, VW are still utilising this standard model to help those UK customers with a more limited budget.

What is the range of an electric VW ID.4?
Unlike most leasing broker and car manufacturer websites, you will note that the range of the ID.4 is not shown as just one figure. The reason for this is that an electric car will be influenced by the way the driver performs, the weather conditions and the journey type. The e-car lease “Living with ..” tool demonstrates the variances an ID.4 can potentially offer you. This is something that both a low-mileage and high-mileage leasing customer should review as part of their procurement decision.

Can you tow with a ID.4?
Yes - you can purchase a swivelling towbar for £890 from the manufacturer.

What is the towing capacity of the ID.4?
This EV has a towing capacity of 750kg (unbraked) and 1000kg (braked).

What is the MPG of the ID.4?
This Pure 52 kWh battery has a vehicle fuel equivalent of 136mpg whereas the 77kWh Pro Performance battery has a vehicle fuel equivalent of 134mpg
