The all new Audi A6 Avant e-tron - upcoming electric car of 2024
There are plenty of new amazing electric cars making their way to the UK for 2024; so many that we don’t know how our customers are actually going to be able to choose one! One of the foremost EV brands in the leasing industry, Audi, have already supplied a number of great options including:
But the German brand have not finished and with the UK’s ZEV mandate hotting up, the need to register zero-emission options (22% for 2024), many brands will either have to produce many more BEVs OR register few combustion options. Failing to adhere to the new regulation will have financial consequences, with uncompliant registrations likely to cost in the region of £15,000 per vehicle. So for the Audi brand having already led with their SUV product suite, it’s refreshing to see some different segment options arriving for our personal and business lease customers.
Estate, or “Avant”, vehicles are somewhat limited in the battery segment. At present there are few options including - the MG5 Estate, the Peugeot e-308 Station Wagon, Vauxhall Astra Sports Tourer and the Porsche Taycan.
So a more family-friendly option from the team at Audi is certainly not unwelcome. Built on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE), this will be the same infrastructure which the upcoming Porsche Macan and new Q6 e-tron will utilise.
On EV configuration and performance expect the following - the gross battery will be 100 kWh with 95 kWh usable, making it somewhat larger than the “50” configuration which the Q4 and Q8 utilise. But not unlike some of the latest luxury and performance EVs, the 800-volt charging capability will feature.
This translates to peak DC charging of circa 270 kW. Expect 10-80% charging times of just under 25 minutes. AC charging will start at 11 kW AC but expect the 22 kW to be an upgradable option. Range of the new A6 electric is likely to mirror the “55” battery option in a Q4 / Q8, which will be circa 325 miles in the real world on a full charge.
Expect 0 - 62 times in the Avant to be between 4 to 7 seconds, depending on the battery configuration. With 4.9m of length and 1.9m in width, this should roughly equate to the size of the combustion A6.
