The Audi A6 Sportback e-tron Electric Car Lease-Your Definitive Guide
The VW Group, which now includes the likes of Audi, Cupra, Seat, Skoda, Porsche. Lamborghini and Bentley, are fast becoming a go-to electric brand; there would be some who would now suggest that they are leaving their fierce rivals BMW and Mercedes behind in the transition to lithium-tech.
With the Audi brand already well represented across various segments with their Q4, Q6, Q8 and e-tron GT, it’s positive to see just how motivated and determined they are to become the leading electric car producer. Only yesterday (31 July 2024), the German group officially confirmed that their new A6 e-tron Sportback would be available to order in September 2024.
One of the big aspects underpinning this launch is the range capability of this new product. As can be seen in our guide to EV range , there are now a multitude of vehicles which have the ability to travel some incredible distances - many are now able to go beyond 300 miles on a real-range analysis.
The notion of range anxiety is probably less of an issue in 2024 than it was in 2019 / 2020 when mass-adoption of the BEV really began. One of the barriers to entry was the foreseen limitation of EVs to deliver a range which would be practical for our daily lives (and commutes).
Indeed many high-mileage leasing customers would stick with the Tesla brand based on its robust range metrics and developed charging infrastructure around the UK. But with far more charging facilities now in place across the country, the confidence in charging has almost certainly increased more rapidly and customers are now less transfixed with the max range.
However, in the new A6 e-tron we now have a true contender for the longest range with the various models now capable of travelling between 325 miles to an amazing 370 miles on a full charge. For any doubters, the future of EV is very much here!
“An electrifying experience” says the team at Audi on their new product page for the A6 Sportback EV. As per the website, there is a genuine belief that they have created one of the leading innovations in the automotive market, with design, tech and battery all encompassed. Indeed, the upper mid-size segment now has a new contender, with this A6 being built on the PPE platform which has been successfully introduced on the Q6 e-tron.
Much of the range will stem from the outstanding aerodynamics, which (statistically) are the best Audi have ever recorded - cW value of 0.21. Or in the VW group as a whole. The front of the vehicle has been optimised with air curtains to allow air flow around the front and wheels. Small features like the adapted wheel trims, 3D bumps and undertray all add to this.
UK drivers will not be short-changed when it comes to the specification on the Sportback A6. Key features include the daytime LED running lights, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), 19” alloys for the standard model, 20” alloys on the S Line, digital lights, OLED rear lights.
MMI panoramic display with curved design, 11.9” Audi cockpit, 14.5” touchscreen and a 10.9” passenger display (with Active Privacy Display), HUD, optional innovative panoramic glass sunroof which you can make opaque with PDLC technology, OUT, Bang & Olufsen sound system with headrest loudspeakers, suspension control with optional active air suspension.
Virtual exterior mirrors (which are power-folding), adaptive driving assistant plus and park assist plus for reversing camera and adaptive cruise control. The A6 Sportback will be dynamic, elegant and progressive, making this one of the most distinctive Audi’s to date.
Colour choices include Magnetic Grey, Glacier White, Typhoon Grey, Mythos Black, Plasma Blue and Malpelo Blue. The Daytona Grey and Siam beige are bespoke colours to S Line and S models.
In terms of options, you can add the Sound & Vision pack for £3,195 which adds Bang & Olufsen 3D Premium Sound System with headrest speakers, Augmented reality head-up display, Ambient lighting package plus with dynamic communication light and USB interfaces with higher charging capacity and Sound & Vision Pack Pro for £5,495 (which also includes the panoramic glass sunroof with switchable transparency and virtual folding mirrors).
There will be two battery configurations (both with 800v high voltage systems) to choose from including:
