Your Definitive Guide to the Hyundai Ioniq 6 Electric Car Lease deal

The perfect EV saloon?
The Hyundai Ioniq 6 Electric Car Lease deal

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 Electric Car Lease deal, your definitive guide

One of the UK’s favourite EV brands, Hyundai, have been somewhat consistent with their product repertoire - the Kona, Ioniq and Ioniq 5 have so far been favourable business and company car options.

But moving away from small hatchback and SUVs, the Korean manufacturers made the decision to engage more with the company car market by producing a saloon capable of matching the Polestar 2, Tesla Model 3 and BMW i4. And while electric cars are for both personal and business users, because of enhanced tax incentives for business and salary sacrifice customers this is where most of the action has been happening in 2023. In August 2023, some 51,951 “fleet” vehicles were registered compared to 32,794 last year.

And when you consider that 17,243 EVs were registered in August compared to 10,006 in August 2022, this does represent a considerable market and opportunity. You only have to look at the 2,313 Tesla Model Y and 1,698 Tesla Model 3 registrations, to appreciate just how key the EV market is to the long-term health of every manufacturer. If your brand is not already involved in this, you may not be around for long …

Can small businesses use salary sacrifice to lease cars like this?

And on the salary sacrifice, or sal sac, element, it’s worth noting that this is now a more common route for accessing all-electric vehicles. And while much of it is advertised as a “Big Company” feature, this is not something which should be ignored by the SME market too. As a mutual agreement between the employer/employee, the employee will reduce their gross salary (before tax) in exchange for the EV.

This has a corresponding reduction in PAYE and NI contributions for both the employer and employee, so it is a mutual benefit to both parties. With most schemes, like the e-car salary sacrifice scheme, including the vehicle, service and maintenance, insurance and ET assurance / insurance cover, this is a robust and much cheaper way for the employee to use a new electric car.

Using your salary, after tax, would be far more costly and inefficient especially if the employer is VAT registered.  While there are accounting, HR and legal implications, the partners we work with can help the employer / employee to achieve the right solution. And with many small businesses looking to enhance their offering and cement employee retention and loyalty, the cost-neutral salary sacrifice scheme could be one option to use.

The all-electric Ioniq 6 saloon is definitely the “electrified streamliner” it promises to be. Externally, this vehicle moves away from the boxy and stoic designs which are often attributed to the Hyundai brand; in many ways this opens the manufacturer up to the more luxurious and prestige car fans of the UK.

Clearly influenced by the CLA, 4 Series Gran Coupe and even the Porsche, this presents a striking image for most customers. But aesthetics are not just at the heart of the Hyundai Saloon - the underpinning infrastructure has been carefully produced to provide a positive electric driving lifestyle with the 800V charging tech.
