The Polestar 3 Electric Car Lease - Your Definitive Guide
There is a battle ongoing in the UK’s media when it comes to the notion of electric cars. Throughout 2023 and 2024 it has been clearly palpable that anti-EV agendas have been underway with a litany of purported horror stories about the transition.
By no means an exhaustive list, there have been reasons along the lines of inadequate range, expensive, difficult to charge, lack of charging points and highly-flammable. Some of you may remember the airport fire (which was started by a combustion vehicle) but which was somehow linked to an electric vehicle which was caught up within the melee.
Or the story of the “runaway Jaguar I-Pace” which necessitated police intervention to bring it to a stop following the cruise control becoming stuck. Very clearly there has been a programme of anti-electric propaganda, with many publications quick to publish any negative stories.
But reading is believing and this approach does have a big impact on the public perception of what a BEV is fundamentally about, even though much of it is either misleading or a one-off example. There are more than enough cases of combustion vehicles incurring issues but quite interestingly they do not make it into our news.
The announcement that Octopus Electric Vehicles and Fully Charged are launching “Electric Vehicles UK” to push back against this tide is not a surprising reaction. Like e-car lease, the Octopus team are engaged in new and used all-electric car sales, with Fully Charged providing news, reviews and glossaries on the EV market.
The new initiative, which launched yesterday in London (11 September 2024), will be utilising the energy, renewables and vehicle sector to provide more honest and balanced views on how UK customers can transition into battery tech. As noted at the conference, surveys have suggested that 96% of electric car drivers would remain in this fuel type when it comes to their car. And over 50% of combustion drivers would consider going electric with their next option. However, customers do need sage and succinct information which helps them to do so.
Every business in the UK has a part to play in the education aspect of the transition to EVs, especially with the Labour Government looking to expedite the date to 2030 for the ZEV Mandate.
At the point of the buying / leasing decision, it is clear that customers need to understand some crucial aspects of their purported electric vehicle. This can include elements like the charging capability (AC and DC), charging costs (including overnight tariffs), real world ranges in a multitude of conditions and temperatures, Bidirectional capabilities and running costs (insurance, servicing, tyres and charge points).
The truth is that there are pros and cons behind the EV movement and so long as a balanced view is offered to a customer, you minimise the propensity for “horror stories” which the press want to circulate. As a customer on our website will see, we provide all of this on a unique document, the EVC™ so that a more accurate assessment of your lease vehicle can be understood.
One such brand which is relying on the success of the EV transition is the Polestar brand, which only produces battery vehicles.
